Genshin Impact already has a passionate fanbase that creates tons of fan art of beloved characters like Diluc and Yae Miko every day . The notion of a Genshin Impact anime has always been a dream for role-playing game (RPG) fans, and now the dream has come true. As of now, there's no further information on what's to come or any sign of a release date, other than the fact that it's a long-term project between the two companies.
IN WHICH REGION WILL THE STORY TAKE PLACE?
The trailer opens with Paimon flying through the woods as she turns and beams, before guiding the viewer further and letting them peek at what lies beyond the trees . The next shot shows a leafy mountaintop adorned with flowers, followed by a scene of Anemo Crystalflies floating around some trees, a strong indicator that this destination is Mondstadt. It would make sense to be the first realm seen in an anime adaptation since it's also the first place players visit when they start the game.
Then there are some wide shots of even grassier hills as well as a shot of the snowy, cold Dragonspine Mountains. The Mondstadt Statue of Seven then appears onscreen, a key frame for those playing Genshin Impact, as the camera moves to reveal the rocky cliffs of the first area that players are all very familiar with.
ETHER AND LUMINE
Following this, the next scene is exciting. Aether and Lumine appear, the siblings players must choose between when starting Genshin Impact. They smile at the viewer while holding hands, symbolizing their bond, but also seeming quite bittersweet to those familiar with the story behind the video game; it really is a rare sight to see Aether and Lumine together like this. The camera then zooms out and pans over the area around them, further showing the ruins that can be found in Mondstadt, a telltale sign of where the anime adaptation will most likely take place.
It's no surprise that the anime adaptation is set in Mondstadt, at least early in the series. Whether or not there is more than one season for the Genshin Impact anime, fans will have to be patient while they wait to hear more. If Ufotable decides to rush into the Genshin Impact storyline, viewers might at least be introduced to Liyue's next area. Fans are unlikely to see Inazuma very early in the anime version, and certainly not the new area of Sumeru.
THE SCENARIO
The next question is what story will follow the anime adaptation of Genshin Impact? The first guess is that it will be an adaptation of the real story from the video game, but without any additional information, could the anime follow a completely different story? If Ufotable goes for the first option, it's likely fans will be introduced to key Mondstadt characters such as Diluc and Kaeya , big player favorites.
Since Amber is one of the first characters to appear in Genshin Impact, there's a good chance she'll also be a featured character pretty early on, at least in the early episodes of the anime series. While it's great to be introduced to Liyue characters such as Zhongli and Xiao (heart on you), fans may have to wait until next season for an appearance from them. The trailer shows Aether and Lumine together, which can either be a clue to the storyline or just a visual advertisement for the anime, as the two characters are instantly recognizable.
For those who have played the game, Lumine and Aether are only seen together in opposite aspects, so there could be a chance that the anime will follow a completely different storyline that sees Aether and Lumine staying together throughout. story.
WHO WILL BE FEATURED?
Cyberpunk Edgerunners follows an entirely different cast of characters who are still tied to the Cyberpunk 2077 universe, signified by Rebecca's in-game weapon as well as David's jacket. This probably won't be the case for the Genshin Impact anime. Chances are it wouldn't go over well if the anime adaptation had a completely different character roster and a story that has nothing to do with what players are attached to in the game.
For now, fans will have to wait for more information about the Genshin Impact anime, and with no release date, it could be a while before the series release announcement. This gives Mihoyo and Ufotable plenty of time to present insights and hints over the next few months. Let's just hope the game doesn't die before the series comes out...
