With the March of the Lich King expansion , Blizzard is introducing an eleventh class to its card game. Highly anticipated by players, the Death Knight brings his deadly universe to Hearthstone . Embodied by none other than Arthas Menethil, the Lich King himself, this new class risks throwing a chill in the tavern. But he can take advantage of his army of undead to join the party.
Everything you need to know about the Death Knight
With their natural affiliation to death, the knights of Arthas benefit from a heroic power that calls upon it. But above all, they benefit from a unique new mechanic, the accumulation of corpses. When an allied unit dies, the Death Knight stores a corpse in rune form in Hearthstone . He can keep up to 3 at a time, and the runes generated depend on the deck built. They can be runes of blood, oriented towards control, of frost, favoring destruction, or unholy, for raising the dead.
These runes are determined during the creation of the deck, according to the cards chosen by the Death Knight. Some of their cards cost them a specific amount of these runes, thus determining which ones he can use. If a card requires 3 blood runes to be used, then it will not be possible to add a card requiring frost or unholy runes afterwards.
- Specialization : Depending on the cards present in the deck, the Death Knight can generate blood, frost or unholy runes
- Blood – Oriented board control and life point manipulation
- Frost – Oriented magic damage with direct effect and freeze effects, allows manipulation of mana
- Unholy – Oriented summon undead, create and use corpses
- Assaulting Ghoul (Hero Power) : Cost 2 mana – Summons a 1/1 ghoul with Charge that dies at the end of the turn
Maps available at the exit
This new class comes at the very end of a year, drastically reducing its number of available cards. To overcome this, a unique adventure featuring the fall of Arthas Menethil into darkness allows you to recover the 32 cards (68 in total) of the fundamental set of the Death Knight. But a set dedicated to the class will also be part of the launch of the extension. 26 cards (49 in total) can be obtained in these boosters.
