The Youtube channel "Today on The Korean Server" is struck by the structure of Faker T1 for copyright problems!

We just learned that one of the biggest youtube channel dedicated to the Korean esport of League of Legends could close!

The Youtube channel "Today on The Korean Server" is one of the biggest youtube channel dedicated to posting and translating League of Legends clips focused around the Korean League scene. It is specialized in translated mic checks, Korean soloqueue highlights, LCK highlights...

Thousands of players watch this channel every day, but this could soon come to an end as the channel received a very severe warning from T1 a short while ago.

Published by Today on the Korean Server on Youtube :

Just got a Copyright Strike From T1 in my latest video for using a Replay!! In Under 10 Hours of Uploading it got manually Striked meanwhile other Channels have been uploading Videos straight from his Stream for MONTHS with no problem. Do better, please.*

If the channel receives 2 more strikes, it will be permanently deleted, which is very scary for the whole League of Legends community. On the Reddit discussion forum, many players have protested in recent hours, posting support for the YouTube channel, players do not understand this penalty.

Now of course Faker is gonna be on everyone's mind when bringing up a Korean focused League content channel and TOTKS pulls through with Faker content. However, T1 has a policy where clips from Faker's stream are not to be reposted on other channels. TOTKS complies with this rule, unlike other channels, but to give people content related to Faker's gameplay he instead posts clips from replays of Faker's games and edits them to look like they're clips from his POV. The problem is that apparently these edits are so good that T1 can't tell the difference and is now copystriking his videos.

TOTKS is really a standout League content channel in that the editor behind all the vids really goes all out to try and create the most compelling viewer experience possible. Some examples are ultrawide support for LCK clips that open with a quick edit of the Take Over MV ending, an experiment with VR viewing of LCK games, and of course his edits of replays to make them look like player POVs. This is a really weird situation where the channel is being punished for putting in too much effort rather than the other way around.

Now we hope that the situation will evolve in the right direction, it would be a shame to lose such a beautiful Youtube channel that we all watch for so long!
