To fight against this worrying phenomenon, the French branch of Nintendo has quite logically initiated legal proceedings. And it turns out that the Japanese manufacturer won its case on Tuesday, March 8, 2022. Thus, the Paris Court will ask operators to block access to several websites within France.
A really sufficient measure?
The operators Bouygues Télécom, SFR, Orange, Free and SFR Fiber have therefore been ordered to block these five websites on French soil: www.nsw2u.xyz , www.nsw2u.net , www.nsw2u.com , www.nsw2u.org and www.nsw2u.site .
The latter offer pirated copies of almost all Nintendo Switch games available today.
Despite this announcement, it is hard to see how only Nintendo France will be able to stop this trend. Already, a simple VPN would make the sites in question accessible again and note that the decision issued by the court can also be suspended in the event of an appeal. In its press release, the manufacturer asks its users not to download games from these sites " because it affects the functionality and experience of genuine Nintendo products ".
