It's not Resident Evil 9 but it's free, so necessarily good to grab. Capcom announces the arrival of RE2, RE3 and RE7 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC in 2022.
Beautiful changes to come (Ray tracing, etc)
Christmas is far behind us but Santa Capcom pulls out a nice gift from his hood. This year, at an unknown date, the publisher will update Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 remakes for free , as well as Resident Evil 7 to offer " modernized visual renderings " .
The three titles, which run under the RE Engine, will be embellished with ray tracing and a higher frame rate (surely 60fps stable everywhere, even a 120fps mode). Improvements common to all platforms at no extra cost if you own the games . Otherwise, keep an eye on the different stores because these episodes are often on sale. You can even get a free copy of RE7 on PS5, subject to an active PS Plus subscription.
And while we're at it, Capcom has confirmed support for 3D audio and DualSense on PlayStation 5 . The soundscape was already excellent, but the haptic feedback and adaptive triggers could take the immersion up a notch. If the developers really got their hands dirty.
It won't bring us back the removed content from Resident Evil 3
On paper, the promise of an "ultimate" version of RE2's excellent remake sounds enticing. Additionally, this free update could be an opportunity to further improve the PlayStation VR version of RE7. At least, we hope so, even if the press release from Capcom makes no reference to it.
However for RE3, this patch will not solve the problems of this revisit (deleted places, even more action, a Nemesis relegated as a vulgar second-knife...)
